I’m not sure where 2019 went, but I hope yours included a good amount of creative time with your favorite African fabrics ; )  If you fell a bit short of your creative goals, there’s still time to immerse yourself at the CE Studio.

FreeSpiritDolls

Following a full summer of events, I decided it’s time to put together SEW BASIC, an introductory 2-day “True Beginners” workshop on october 18-19, 2014, with a focus on learning your sewing machine, and the completion of a simple Afrocentric sewing project like a pillow or tote — projects like these:

SewBasicProjectsUnlike  other CE workshops, SEW BASIC is designed for people who don’t know how to sew yet, but want to learn and already own their own machine.   If you’ve been wanting to learn, this is the perfect opportunity to dive in.  By the end of the two day workshop, you’ll know your machine and immerse yourself in gorgeous African fabrics to complete at least one project – join us!  You can also purchase additional fabrics, supplies and kits to keep up with yoru new passion – mudcloth from Mali, African cotton prints, jacquard batiks from Ghana, kuba clothfrom central Africa, and more!
